Most Frequent

By far, the two places I go to most frequently are Yamnuska and Prairie Mtn. Both are close to home and provide a quick outing when time doesn't permit for longer trips.

Yam has lots to offer - standard hiking; more difficult scramble sections and of course the infamous chain traverse.

Prairie Mtn is in the Elbow Valley and is really just a steep hike but it's a great place to get a solid workout. Getting to the summit as quick as possible has become a bit of an obsession. My goal is to get to the summit in as many minutes (or less) than my age in years.

Routes

Many of the best scrambles follow standard routes. Others are off the beaten path. Here are some of the routes I've really enjoyed:

Inspiration

The Manitou Springs Incline, also known as the Manitou Incline or simply the Incline, is a popular hiking trail rising above Manitou Springs, Colorado, near Colorado Springs. The incline gains 2,011 feet (613 m) of elevation in 0.88 miles (1.42 km) horizontal.

This is a great video showing in what time can Kilian Jornet run a vertical kilometer. The answer? Twice as fast as I can! Note that he IS a professional athlete and 23 years younger than I am. :-)
